Prototype 0.2 Update


It's been a while, hasn't it?

Second update coming to you not two hours (I think) after the first prototype was uploaded. Not too much has changed other than some minor fixes, but it was enough that I figured I should repackage and upload as an update before cashing in for the night.

What's New?

This update is mostly small tweaks and first steps towards fixing major issues. Changes as follows:

  • Minor changes to player code to fix issue where player was allowed to jump after falling off of a platform. Now when player is not on the ground, spacebar defaults to a gravity switch. Balance testing to come.
  • Minor changes to platform spawning algorithm. Platform length is somewhat more limited, and shorter platforms are more common. Balance testing to come.
  • Speed modifier implemented. Gradually increases speed of horizontal movement until a hard limit is reached. Values for this system are placeholders and are very likely to change for balancing after playtesting.

What's Next?

It's just about 1:30 in the morning so I'm going to hit the hay for the night. I will, however, be back to work on the project tomorrow and be back with at least one more devlog update when I have made sufficient changes to warrant a re-upload. Plans for tomorrow's development are as follows:

  • Further testing of variables for spawning, speed, jumping, etc.
  • Minor tweaks to scripted animation to make them look more fluid
  • Implementation of a local scoreboard to keep track of personal high scores
