Another Late Night

What a screwy sleep schedule...

Today's work schedule was a little different than usual. Got up early (for me) to get some work done, took a long break through the middle of the day to catch up with friends and kick it at a little local convention, and now it's 1:30 AM again and I'm just finishing up for the night. Updates as follows.

What's New?

This update was mostly just more tweaks and some early tests for art asset implementation. If you're playing this build, do not assume that what the game looks like now is what I am planning on it to be on completion. Hopefully I'll be able to deliver on a more original vision soon. Specifics include:

  • Updates to player's gravity and jump height variables to give the game a tighter feel
  • Basic parallax background and new sky color in an attempt to find some artistic direction to travel in while finishing the game

What's Next?

As I said above, production is finished for tonight. Tomorrow I will have limited time (<3 day jobs) but I am planning on implementing a few new features during the development time I do have.

  • Updated level art
  • Particle effects/physics objects to give more feedback during gravity switch
  • Plan to begin work on music and sound effects

Developer's Thoughts

I've tired myself out today, and I feel as though I could have gotten more done if I had a clearer head. At this point, I am realizing just how unsure I am as far as my aesthetic vision for the game is concerned, but I will worry about piecing that together tomorrow when I am more well-rested. I feel pretty alright about the progress I made today, although I am beating myself up a little bit over not being able to focus more on the project as the day ticked by. Friends are important though, and getting outside is usually a good thing. That is all for tonight.

Signing off,

Dylan Smith
